The songs were recorded in early November at the New York City studio of engineer-extraordinaire Mark Dann — in just 10 hours over three days! Two of the songs feature the lovely Martha Colby on cello. I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out!

I’ll also be participating in several late-late-night showcases at the conference, and just hanging and jamming with musical friends. See you soon!

Summer is flying by…so quickly that my monthly missive went unwritten for half of August! It’s been a whirlwind of a summer, including working to fend off heatstroke while performing at the 2011 Falcon Ridge/Grassy Hill Emerging Artists Showcase, as well as attending my annual tribal gathering at SummerSongs (where I taught a workshop for the first time, called “Singing from the Core”). I’ve still got summer in my bones and I’m not quite ready for fall, though I’m already doing some 2012 booking — which already includes two opening sets for the lovely, fabulous and talented Sloan Wainwright, in Brooklyn and Westchester!

Time if flying…I can’t believe summer has arrived, and we’re headed into July.

The most thrilling news: I’m tickled and honored to have been selected as one of 24 artists who will perform at the 2011 Falcon Ridge/Grassy Hill Emerging Artists showcase on Friday afternoon, July 22! I remember checking out the showcase the first time I was at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in 2004…and wishing I could be up on the stage. So, it’s quite an exciting moment for moi! Looking forward to seeing old friends and new at this wonderful festival, which will feature main stage performers such as Mary Chapin Carpenter, Eliza Gilkyson, Lucy Kaplansky, John Gorka, and Susan Werner.

Have a great start to summer…hope to see you down the music road!
